The legendary architect of London's National Theatre, was the castaway on the 20th December 1976 BBC Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs. What he decided to take with him was Mozart, a telescope, and a book about the night sky.
British-born theatre director, Sir Peter Hall (1930-2017), ran the Arts Theatre, founded the Royal Shakespeare Company when he was only 29, and succeeded Laurence Olivier as the National's director in 1973. In 1977 he was knighted for his contribution to the theatre.
